Universal Traveller has always been the industry leader in travelling products since we first opened our doors in 1990. Our retail network can now be found throughout East and West Malaysia and Singapore, with stand-alone outlets in major cities and many consignment counters throughout the countries in more than a hundred point of sale.

Along the years, we may have concentrated on growing our winter products, but we still maintain a presence in the luggage business by cooperating with global brands and are currently the distributer for several luggage labels.

As the industry leader for travel products in luggage, winter wear and accessories, we finally embarked on our latest premium luggage concept store “Luggage Empire” in 2009, a premium retail concept that offers only selected luggage brand in an exclusive retail setting. Among the brands available include in-house brand such as Royal McQueen, Jean-Francois and Airways and distributor brands such as Calvin Klein and REVO.

Growth

UT starts its business in 1990 with its first store located in Lot 10 shopping mall at KL Golden Triangle. Over the years, UT is still maintaining its close connection with all their clients and customers by providing their excellent services from well-trained store assistants throughout all the standalone stores as well as many other counters in departmental stores.

In year 2003, SARS epidemic in several countries hits tourism industry which resulted in a drastic decline on UT business. Still, UT persisted in honoring their contracts with suppliers, landlords through expansion of more stores and, of course to customers by refunding products purchased affected by this contagious outbreak. Apart from that, UT also prevailed through the 2008 global financial crisis through effective leadership by their Managing Director with his vast experience, hands on approach and trust in the team working.

UT Managing Director, Mr John Poh with his 35 years of retail experience has brought the company to greater vision with his foresight and can-do attitude. His belief of selling winter wear in a tropical country has proven his deep determination in his work. Today, UT has not only become a chain store retailer for winter wear but also a wide variety of travel products. UT winter wear has also become fashion statement for many of the well travelled consumers.

Customer Service

UT place utmost importance in the quality of customer service, all their retail assistants go through a series of compulsory training by a senior supervisor or a manager for at least 2 weeks.
Top performers of different outlets are sent for special retail training to constantly update their level of service to be in sync with international standards.

Besides equipped with the product and travelling knowledge, UT ensures that policies or regulations on successful branding are implemented in all outlets. The outlet stores refurbish from time to time to create a great shopping experience for customers.
